NEW HAVEN POLICE MAKE TWO ARRESTS OF SEX OFFENDERS AS PART OF A SPECIAL OPERATION

(5/28/2009) NEW HAVEN- This morning, the Special Investigations Unit of the New Haven Police Department served several active arrest warrants. An arrest was made of 47-year-old Heriberto Vazquez of 25 Saltonstall Avenue for two arrest warrants stemming from a November 2006 incident involving his girlfriend's 2 daughters, ages 4 and 6. Vazquez was charged with Risk of Injury to a Minor and Risk of Injury to a Minor and Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree.

A 28-year-old male, who must remain unnamed due to the fact that he was a juvenile at the time of the incident for which he has been arrested, was also taken into custody. This individual was arrested on a warrant stemming from an incident that occurred when the perpetrator was 15-years-old and the victim was around 6 or 7-years-old. The victim recently reported the incident to the Special Investigations Unit. The perpetrator was processed as a juvenile and is in detention. This individual’s Juvenile Warrant is for two counts of Sexual Assault 1st Degree.
